The sound of dogs barking in the distance
The sound of chaos nibbling around the exterior of this orderly life

This is where it goes
The drumming hoofbeats of anarchy approaching quickly from a long way off
The thundering vibrations of a long put off reality thumping this critically ill dream

Summoning up foolish, blind courage
To continue ignoring all that is going on around you
Leading your life as if nothing's happening
Eating in restaurants, talking to friends, still planning for the future

Perhaps you should have packed up your things when first was heard
The sound of dogs barking in the distance
Salvaging a shred of this time of your life that's about to be totally obliterated by absolute darkness
