The Sower That Sows And The Reaper Who Reaps Poem by Raymond Farrell

The Sower That Sows And The Reaper Who Reaps

The sower that sows
And the reaper who reaps
Whether one and the same
Or the labor is divided
Between two or many
All know by experience
When the wheat is sown
With the best intentions
They will enter the field
At harvest time
To find sufficient tares
Growing with the wheat
To know
That good intentions
Alone
Do not produce
A pure harvest
And human beings
May have their hearts
Plowed and furrowed
And sown with the best seed
Knowledge and wisdom can provide
But in the end
The yield will
Not be free of tares
Such is the human condition
Such is the heart of man.
