The Spirit Of Youth (Cans Of Stella) - Poem by Vincent S. Coster

Youthful exuberance
In hoodies and tartan caps
I will beat you because
My girlfriend thinks I'm hard
With my tracksuits
And my Nike kicks
Bottles of Stella
Drink ing my cans of Stella

Poet's Notes about The Poem

This is from the 2012 collection The Spirit of Youth. This poem was written after a visit to Yeovil in which he saw a group of youths drinking cans of lager from plastic bags.
The end is a twist on Umbrella by Rihanna, an artist whom the poet admires.
