The Statue Poem by James Darwin Smith II

The Statue

This statue so familiar
Where have I seen it before?

There she is, stuck
Looking high to the skies
As if there is desperation
So much
You can see crimson stains
Painted below her
Stone cold eyes

Once dreamy those peeks
I can sense a beautiful
Once upon a time

Yet, in reality
There was never
A happily ever after
As this very heart of mine
Beats to the tune of the past
Feeling so much pain
Shooting viciously
Up and down my spine
Feeling every inch
Of her own past's demise

As I keep gazing in depth
I see how withered and cold
She must be
So many cracks
On her ivory stained surface
Cannot imagine
How it must of felt
Before she ended stoning herself
Dying within
By all the pain inside

So invisible she is
How could that be?
Only I can she her
I suppose not having guilt
Makes them all go blind
Society's bane
Laughing on with ignorance
At her expense
Without even knowing
How she ever committed suicide

But then again
It was murder in the end
In a dark twisted metaphoric sense

And here now
For some reason
Only I can see her
Outward and within

The anguish, the sorrow
If only they knew
How beautiful she was
In every single way possible

Even now
She to me, still beautiful
A secret to the world
But that secret
I carry everywhere
From here and to
My own timely demise

My eyes, her eyes
Looking high upon the skies
Dreaming of the day she finally escapes
Her Stoic imprisonment
Handed down
By those who never knew
She was once so full of life

I love her

If only
I was right by her side
Helping her break out
As she flies
Upon the sky she was stuck
With her beautiful ice cold eyes

It seems
We were lovers
Somehow in another life

Maybe she freed me
Many moons ago

Took on these many
Many pains of mine
And put them all
Deep within her heart

It's time to be alive my love
Stone me till we can both
Fight all of this horrible demise

If you come back
And see me in stone
I hope you live
The best
In a life you deserved
After being prison
In the pain of your own
Agonizing confines

Forget me
And be the thing
You have always dreamt to be

Do I look familiar?
Move on my love
Forget me
And live out
The best moments
Of your life

I love you
Be strong for those in need

Here I am stuck
Looking upon her beauty
With the greatest gaze
Adoring her
With golden graces
The greatest feat
Of all time pride

So proud to see her go
So glad in this form
These eyes are not allowed to cry

Never have guilt my love
Live the best life
You could ever live

I can take this
I will be just fine

This pride lives on
I will always be strong

My love
For your life

I am so proud
To be the one who sacrificed

Live long
Have a great life

Even as stone
I can still feel deep within
The far reaches
Buried deep inside

I stand here with love
Forever and beyond

My love for you will never die
