The Storm - Poem by Kimar Young

The wise had watched
As the clouds grew dark
As the storm approached
As the trusted became sharks

But the calm before the gales
We had taken for granted
Laughed at the observant
Voiced their perceptions as slanted

But when the rain came down
And the high winds were stirring
We begged at locked doors
Behind which enemies were concurring

Now they mocked us freely
And labeled us fools
We countered with empty accusations
And claimed they used us as tools

But in the end
We had to start anew
Learn from our mistakes
Heads low and pride thrown askew
