The Summer We Were In Love 3 Poem by Melissa Cutler

The Summer We Were In Love 3

I sit with you, on the hammock in the back yard,
Your arms wrapped around me, tight and secure;
Deep in thought, you ask me what I'm thinking about
& I say with a smile on my face, the summer we were in love
You go silent for a little while, your smile curled up on end
Suddenly you get up, pick me up off the hammock, and kiss me
I thought I was going to faint, your lips touching mine, creating,
the spark of eternity; what a moment in time, the world stopped
that night, the night I thought about, the summer we were in love.
