The Tale Of An Ill-Fated Lover Poem by Arun Maji

The Tale Of An Ill-Fated Lover

Rating: 5.0

I often wonder-
what would I write to you
if you are here in earth,
and me on other side of life
separated by death?

May be, I would write you
tale of an ill fated lover.
Who is away, far away from his lover,
caged in a castle all alone.

through the window
he could see silhouette of a young woman.
He knows-
it's her; his beloved, so sweet and dear.

in the shore there,
she is waiting and waiting
for him to kiss her.

Feeling the pain within her
his heart aches, soul cries.
Chained and cursed,
he tries untie himself
he tries break the window.
But alas! He could not.
His heart is heavy as mountain
his soul is wet as ocean.

He sobs, he shouts, he cries-
O God, why me? Why me?

Through his tears,
he watches-
in horizon, Sun sinks;
at shore, that silhouette disappears.
His heart aches once more
his soul cries once more
and then he faints.

Next day-
he wakes up,
opens his eyes
and runs to the window.
There she is,
at the shore-
waiting and waiting;
just for him.

he cries a piercing cry-.
O God, make me cry
as much as you want;
but don't make her cry.
She is such a tender flower
why by crying, would she kill her?

His cry echoes in castle
but none hears.
He appeals to God again
oh God
why, why she has to cry?

You know
it's not my pain
that I care.
But it's your wet eyes
that brings me tears.
It's your achy heart
that is so tormenting and severe.

Even after my death
I want you not to shed tears.
Nothing so pleasing and peaceful
than your shine and laughter.

O my love
don't ever cry;
else, even after death
I would cry and die.
