Mistletoe's root-like haustoria
delve deep into the host tree
Pilfering it's water and nutrients
gaining some of it's food for free
It's host tree is duped into nurturing
the perceived tree tissue
Several mistletoe parasites
the host tree's health is an issue
Drought saps it's host tree's resources
in a year of prolonged hot weather
The unwitting host tree succumbs
they both then die together
