The Thirst Poem by Edwina Reizer

The Thirst

How to quell one's thirsting wish
is not an easy quest.
It does not happen overnight
and it offers you no rest.

One must be patient and persevere
and allow for time to pass.
Take up knitting or puzzle fitting
and pray your brain will last.

And do you want the thirst to leave
by filling it with bitter drink?
Better to keep on thirsting.
Better not to think.

So I'll keep on wishing
and play the wanton role.
And if life can't excuse me,
I'll be forgiven by my soul.
