The Thousand Tales Of My Silence... Poem by RIC BASTASA

The Thousand Tales Of My Silence...

you cannot blame me.
i never promised you some stars,
i told you, i am no friend of
the moon, neither i am a relative
of the sun.

we made love, yes, but i never
told you i love you.
i only offered you my hands
and then the poverty of
my silence.

i will not ask forgiveness then
if by now
you have felt the coldness of the
north wind,
if you have seen no stars in my
heavens,
if you miss the sun
if you think that the night
has finally betrayed the
moon.

on the other hand, feel no storm
you can hear no sound of the thunder,
and in this shelter of my deafening silence,
no rain shall ever make you wet
no coldness from its arms, no abuse
from the waves of the raging sea.

i still offer you my silence.
and its thousand tales.
