The Three



The three

Rumi’s story of the maid
And the donkey
And the blood, resembles
Hidden stories retold; ignites
The curiosity with “what? ”

Farrokhi’s three stages of Maryam
In the moonlight:
Introduction, attraction, amusement
Ignites
What narcotic is in moonlight?

And shores
And banks
And ducks

Girls, boys, intimacies and talks
And loners, depressed, suicides
Give birth to question:
“What is in water, in wave? ”

And they
The three
Older woman
And younger
And the lad

“A photo with three of us in it, ”
Insisted the women
Rejected the guy

Why?

From same home
Landlord, two tenants
On the riverside Strangers …
