The Tombstone Poem by Gary James Smith

The Tombstone

The Tombstone

The Tombstone was His benchmark
He's not here He has risen
The angels testified as such
What a most glorious message given
If anything could ever revive a heart
That lived with the assurance of His death
It was the words...' He is risen! ...
He has risen from the dead! '

That was enough for Mary to hear
To kickstart Resurrection day
Off she ran to tell the disciples
They had to hear it today
And sure enough upon their arrival
As they entered the empty tomb
They saw His linen clothes there folded
And their soul's said good-bye to doom!

Then... to meet the Master Himself
You can well imagine what jubilation
That stirred up within their hearts
Amen for our so great
Salvation!
To have death now just as a sting
But the grave as our victory
Hallelujah for the Cross of Jesus Christ!
And for Christ now living in me!

Hallelujah what a Saviour!
