The Trial Poem by Ravinder Kumar Soni

The Trial

He called aloud my name,
My friend hard of hearing,
He didn't see me standing
In the front row.
I came up to him and asked,
Why was I hailed so openly?
He said he had to shout, for
My time was up.
I had to surrender all gifts
And gains including rights
I earned or accrued to me,
Simple as that.
I felt the pain of loss and
A sense of being deprived,
What wrong did I commit?
I never knew.
I did not want to know either,
Had I not been snatched away
From me, I would have known,
What I am.
Going back to where I stood
I felt I was a part of the row,
I belonged to a finite team,
That had a mind.
