The Turquoise Bird Poem by Emmanuel George Cefai

The Turquoise Bird

I saw the Turquoise Bird on the steps
The steps on the staircase
I saw it my house
I saw it fearless.

And
As I ascended the steps, the more saw I
Of Turquoise Birds
Here, there, silent, complacent
Not scared, fearless everywhere..

It was first time I saw the Turquoise Bird.

But not the First Time I in magic been.

Ay! As in to the Sub-Conscious moved I up
Up the haunted steps
Where magic and Sub-Conscious partners were.
