The Twilight Fairy Poem by Emdad Shah Emdad

The Twilight Fairy

by Emdad Shah

The cloudy realm begins to drowse
A heavy shadow drapes the boughs
The sun has closed its weary eye
As twilight climbs the darkening sky

The evening fairy takes her flight
And sparks the heavens into light
With shimmering dust of silver stars
She heals the day's remaining scars

The blue highway of space awake
Where dreams and quiet paths partake
The shepherd boys now leave the crest
To lead their cattle home to rest

The birds are hushed within the nest
With folded wings upon their breast
The wind is whispering through the grain
A soft and sorrowful refrain

The earth is wrapped in solemn grace
Time slows its steps forgets the race
A lonely lamp begins to glow
Where silent waters gently flow

She weaves a blanket for the night
And hides the world from human sight
A magic spun in quiet shades
Before the lingering color fades

The woods are dark and deeply still
Beside the sloping silent hill
The fairy watches from on high
And leaves a love in the sky.
