by Emdad Shah
I am a voyager, all alone
Underneath the dark stars unknown
Only this darkness, it seems to be
Has fallen upon the eyes of me—
Like the mystical kohl of love's sweet trace
All around was a vast, lonely space
But from an unfamiliar voice or behind the cloud's screen
No one looked up, no face was seen
To speak those words, soft and true:
'I love you, I love you.'
How long a path have I traversed along
Wandering the shores of memory's song?
In the primitive darkness, slow and deep
I touched the long history of exhaustion's sleep
