The Twisted Road Poem by Monica Partridge

The Twisted Road

Traveling through life on it's twisted road
not always sure that we can carry our load
our back often bends under the heavy weight
as we make our way towards the open gate.

We can see our goal, it's within our sight
there is no mistaking it's beckoning light
it pushes aside darkness in our way
and makes fearful night turn into day.

With straightened shoulders we forge ahead
knowing that some burdens have been shed
as we faced the trials and passed the tests
because faith always helped us do our best.

The load gets much lighter as we move along
and our spirit will grow to become ever strong
as we gather knowledge and lessons learned
we also receive great rewards we have earned.

These rewards fill our heart with such love divine
that no matter what happens it's beauty will shine
so great are these gifts that we need to share
with those who give friendship and loving care.

My friend I am honoured you helped bear my load
along this oft rockstrewn and much twisted road
your faith in me made hard tasks easy to complete
with your love in my heart I will never know defeat.
