The Two Of Us Poem by Randy McClave

The Two Of Us

I remember when it was just the two of us
Of our relationship many were jealous,
Many tried to tear our love apart
Even tried to take you away from my heart.
Of course them I would not listen to or allow
I truly believed in us both then and now,
Because, you are the reason that I do live
And all that I know and have you did give.
Then I got with the wrong type of friends
We became each others dividends,
I did and said the things that I never should of
But, me you still did love.
Then I stopped visiting and talking to you
As if our relationship was finished, was through,
I then didn't want to listen or talk to you anymore
I then closed my heart and every door.
Then I became very sad and lost
I knew then that my soul was the final cost,
Then I remembered of all of our past talks
And also all of our wonderful walks.
Then I finally saw the error of my ways
As I looked back and I saw my happier days,
I had given up on you, but you never gave up on me
My eyes were reopened and again I did see.
Though I did most certainly did sin
You still wanted to be my friend once again,
I still remember when it was just the two of us
Me, and you my Lord Jesus.
