The Ultimate Price Poem by Oscar Peterson

The Ultimate Price

Rating: 4.8

God and the soldier
All men adored
In time of trouble,
Yet now no more,
For when war is over
And all things anew,
God is neglected,
The soldier revered
All forgot God
Yet the soldier is happy
While God scorns down on us
As we sin and forget
All that he did
Is lost to the devil
While we battle all evil
And sin
And remorse
God turns away
As we realize our grievance
And cry for forgiveness
Yet Just like before
God tries to teach us
What we have forgotten,
And those who don't listen
Pay the ultimate price
As all love and compassion
They once may have had
Is lost to the depths
Of envy, sorrow and guilt.
