The Umbrella Poem! Poem by Denis Martindale

The Umbrella Poem!

The teacher told the class one day,
"Write a poem for this! "
He raised his brolly right away,
"Yes, you know what this is! "
He studied poems students wrote
And then he read some out.
And of the best that man took note,
As if a talent scout!

There was a man who walked along
To where he worked each day,
Each time he thought, "What could go wrong? "
He thought he was OK.
But one day came and rain poured down
And filled him with dismay!
No wonder that he wore a frown
With bus fare now to pay!

At work, he stood there soaking wet
And his Boss sent him home,
He changed his wet clothes still upset
Yet wrote a brolly poem!
He opened up a brolly shop!
His poem's on the door!
When people read it, then they stop
And buy brollies galore!

So he thanks God each rainy day,
As he's a richer man!
And even now he's known to pray.
Perhaps that was God's plan!

The teacher and his umbrella helped to change one student's life
for the better after writing The Umbrella Poem in class that day.

The poem tells of a poor man who walked from his home to work
rather than to pay bus fare every day. One rainy day had such a
bad effect on him that he wrote The Umbrella Poem and it was
this poem that transformed his life completely.

The man's umbrella shop was a success. Customers bought one
umbrella for themselves and more for their families and friends.
Their wisdom and their love encouraged them to help others.

That poem on the man's shop door had made the difference.
If one poem can make the difference think how much more God
can make the difference, especially when Christmas comes!
