The Unwritten Poem

I am the poem
no one has written yet.
I traveled up to
the fingertips of many poets
but retreated to the dream
like unexpressed love
as I was without script.
I am not afraid of language
as long as it has a future tense.
One day I will find my words:
a wonder-struck child
will see a sail
unfold and rise slowly
on a vacant page
under a new star.

The biggest challenge for a poem is not poem itself, not even the similes and metaphors. It is quite hard for a poem to find its script, the right script. It is just like a toddler learning to speak, finding his unintelligible sounds turning into meaningful words: a wonder-struck child will see a sail unfold and rise slowly on a vacant page under a new star.

The poet is right to say that many a poem goes unwritten. Had those been, could have turned into masterpieces. The escaping emotions of poetry are as such.
