The Vain Poem by Francis Duggan

The Vain

It is not the bulk of your body but what's in your brains that does count
Though big muscles may win for you some female admirers to little else they do amount
Big muscles give rise to big egos and a big ego does clutter the brain
You will find those who like building big biceps can be self conceited and vain,
Wearing a tight fitting tea shirt walking hand in hand with his girl friend with his big muscles bulging out
Attention seeking and so egotistical how vainly he does strut about
The body made up of blood, bone and muscle 'tis the mind that does matter most
The wise don't waste time building muscles of themselves they never do boast,
Some women attracted to males with lots of money and others attracted to muscle bound men
But Einstein was not a body builder and admirers he did not fail to win
Wearing shorts and a tight fitting tea shirt hand in hand with his blond he walks down the street
He feels he's the true super hero so full of his own self conceit,
What happens when time catches up on him and he must use hair dye to cover his gray
And his big biceps begin to wither from society will he hide away?
