The Verses Rest Their Head Strong Poem by Emmanuel George Cefai

The Verses Rest Their Head Strong

The
Verses
Rest
Their
Head
Strong
And
Stubborn
In
There
Garden
Of
Enchantment
There
Beauty
Visits
On
Rare
Nights
To
view
from
time
to
time
The
Collected
Verses.

What a remarkable personification of both POETRY and BEAUTY. The verses themselves need to be restored by a sojourn in a garden world, but then they have to go back to the world of contingency and hardship. (It has to be hard to be a poem living and ignored in today's literary world ruled by novels!) . I am strangely touched by this poem - it has the objective tone of sacred myth, there is not a trace of sentimentality. What speaks clearly is a sympathetic irony.
