The Voice Of Reason. Poem by Derrick Andrews

The Voice Of Reason.

Caught up, in the hail,
In a frozen December,
I try, not to fail,
But it's hard to remember,
All the simple things, that always bring,
A smile to my face,
Then my phone rings, I'm listening,
To a voice I can't trace,
It speaks as if it knows,
How to live life successfully,
Not a hint of emotion shows,
No word spoken regretfully,
'But is it not, a paradox,
To live a life that you hate?
Being caught, in a box,
With no real choice to debate',
I relate, to those struggling,
In the realm of their minds,
Caught between decisions, juggling,
Though, soon will they find,
That while you contemplate, the move to make,
Life's brewing up more,
To toss on your plate, to make or break,
You even more,
So don't sit and wait, it's a mistake,
Just keep on moving,
Don't be the bait, for your own sake,
Keep on improving,
Don't ever be the way I was, hopeless and lost,
A foolish boy wandering aimless, with no hope and no cause,
No applause.
