The Wait Poem by Jennifer Rose

The Wait

The feeling of dread,
it pools within my stomach.
Worry enveloping me,
not knowing if I'm overreacting,
or not reacting enough.
My eyes confused and unfocused,
not knowing if they should cry or not.
my body shaking,
going from anxious, scarred, to worried.
I don't know what to say,
but only 'okay.'
Waiting to know what's going on.
Left out in the cold,
aching in pained heartache.
Feeling helpless and drained by the second.
The night passes with nothing,
not even 'I'm alright.'
Even writing about it for once,
gives no relief.
Gasping for breath,
I can't do anything but imagine,
the worst that could happen.
At least tell me your there!
