The Wait Poem by Bandana Basu

The Wait

Rating: 5.0

You came with all your glamour, you charmed me with your flash,
And when I was sufficiently wooed, you filled me with all your love.
The abundance of your love, filled my soul to the brim,
I rejoiced and grew in love for life, in all its forms and beings.

Then just as quietly you left, leaving me yearning for more,
I remained true to your love, and stayed in an eternal pause.
Your love made me give, from, and all of me,
I knew not how to stop and gave until I dried up.

My eyes that seeked you since, dried up in your waiting,
My soul that longed your moist touch, parched in your memory.
And just as I was to cease, you came, you came to fill me up,
And again just as every time, I rejoiced, I danced, I sparkled.

Once again I was enchanted and remained true to your love,
Knowing your love was fleeting, but mine was ever renewed.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
When the sun-parched riverbed meets the love of its life, the ‘rains', magic happens. The agony of the wait through the scorching summer is instantaneously forgotten when the first raindrops kiss the earth.
