The Wand Poem by Vera Sidhwa

The Wand

The Wand

My hand did not hold a wand,
Like others did.
It did not make sense,
That they did.

I want my work to be my own.
I don't need a fancy loan.
The wand that some people hold,
Are at the expense of those who have nothing.

There life knows no wand to hold.
They don't have one from youth to old.
Magic sprinkles may come my way,
But I might use them at a later day.

My hand did not hold a wand,
Like others did.
The life challenges it brought me,
Kept me straight.

I became my own person.
I didn't take from others.
It became clear,
That the wand was unnecessary.
