The War Inside Poem by Dawn Rodgers

The War Inside

November 17,2008

Who am I tryin’ to fool?

Your smile,
Those sweet words,
I fall for them everytime...

I stand back and watch myself
Seeing the craziness of it all,

There’s a war going on inside of me - - -

Hold on girl,
Don’t give up,
Stand your ground,
He’s your man,

He said he loves you - - -You know it’s true- - -His eyes told you that he do...

Just stop it...

You’re a fool,
Being played like a tool,
He’s got game,
He’s the best,
Gonna leave you broken hearted,
Cryin’ like all the rest...

Who do I listen to my heart or my brain?
How can someone bring you such pleasure and such pain?
How did I get into this mess?
How do I get out?
Will I ever see happiness?
Figure this out?

I guess I’ll just have to wait and let things play out...
