The Way Snow Falls Poem by Leslie Alexis

The Way Snow Falls

The snow comes reluctantly
Like a child on day one of school
Who clings to mom like she's a jewel,
But nothing stays pure forever

If you look close you could see
As each one drops from the pool -
Clouds to the wise, this to the fool:
A white sheet in heaven's blue sea

That like a wave goes on and on,
As far as the limits of the eye.
And the snow slowly says goodbye
That the most patient would yawn

Sleep and wake and it will be morn
And from its path it will go awry
As with style gravity it defies
Yet the ground is covered by a lawn

Of the fluffy white crushed ice
Which causes land to be like the ocean
With its blue a mere reflection,
And just the same it does entice

Kids to play and poets to write
Of the borrowed beauty,
Flaunted like a modern woman
Does her wigs and things which wash off
When it becomes warm.
