what does this door
tell us? we are walled in
and on the other side
near the kitchen we beg for
another door to open.
outside the winds are blowing
it is raining hard and this big door
had taken mercy, and inside the
house, where food is served and
where hospitality bends and sways
we thank the door that let us
in, as we dine and dance and talk
and laugh, but soon
the darkness sets in with its depths
and we have to leave to give peace
to the door that had been patient
with our misgivings, and so we
beg the other door, to be kind enough
to let us feel free again, into
the winds areblowing outside to the
the raging storms of our lives,
into the uncertainties of what
shall happen soon, when the door
closes when there is no other house
in site, to let us in and live
again.
