The Wealth Of Children Poem by Yousif Ibrahim Abubaker Abdalla

The Wealth Of Children

Looking back to my childhood, Eid was a time brimming with simple pleasures. My dad would always make sure we were dressed in fresh, new clothes, and our days sparkled with sweets and toys. He never once focused on his own desires; his biggest joy came from seeing the delight in our eyes. In our laughter, there was a profound sense of peace something that no amount of money could ever purchase. It all clicked for me as I grew older, realizing that same selfless spirit had taken root in me. Now, my children's smiles are the center of my universe; their happiness is my most cherished treasure. Parents truly discover their joy in the laughter of their kids. Oh Lord, please watch over them and keep them safe.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM: This poem was written on Sunday, March 22,2026. In this sonnet, a subtle truth gradually reveals itself one that can only be fully understood through lived experience. What may seem like simple acts of giving in childhood transforms into a deep language of love and sacrifice in adulthood. A father discovers that true joy doesn't come from what he owns, but from what he shares, and even more so, from the happiness reflected in his children's eyes. The poem beautifully illustrates this gentle legacy of love, where one generation unknowingly mirrors the one that preceded it. In celebrating Eid, it also pays tribute to something far more enduring: the selfless joy that defines parenthood. Let's take a moment to recognize these quiet sacrifices and carry them forward with the same sincerity and grace.
