The Weight Of The World. Poem by dave lessard

The Weight Of The World.

The world, it weighs me down
morality has gone
ethics are no more
the world's a country song.

Heartache clings to sorrow
sorrow clings to shame
things unspeakable
they have no spoken name.

Everything goes down the tubes
family, lovers, friends
as the world dies slowly
the turmoil never ends.

Air pollution, waters foul
we poison our own earth
cursing God and enemies
the day of our own birth.

The world, it weighs me down
I pray for change and hope
count the blessings that I have
in which I now can cope.
