There'll be another time, my love,
another time for you and me -
and when you come to take that step
you'll find me ‘neath the Willow tree.
For there, set deep, my resting place,
where I have waited long for you
beneath her boughs, which bended low,
full moistened by the morning dew.
The clover round me yet still grows,
as once it did a time ago -
oh, I have lingered far too long
through summer's heat and winter's snow.
And cold the stone that bears my name,
so cold below the burning sun -
for nothing could my heart ignite
‘til you and I become as one.
The Willow waits for your return,
her silent tears remain unspilled -
in all her splendour biding time
before your beating heart be stilled.
The Willow wept, and weeping still
she yearns for you to come to me -
for I am waiting here, my love,
asleep beneath the Willow tree.
