The Wind Of Change Poem by Brent McBride

The Wind Of Change

Upon life's sea I lie content with due course set in mind,
armed with map and quill some unknown destiny I'll find.
When suddenly my vessel groans as moved by some strange force
I sober to the howling winds about to change my course.
With anger toiled I through the night to fall exhausted on the stern,
fearful of the morning light when of my fate I'll learn.
Then I awake to feel the warmth of early dawns first break and
wonder at the smell of fruit and stillness of the lake.
Now I arise upon my feet and lo my breast is filled with awe,
at the majestic unknown isle whereon my hull did fall.
Now triumphant joy resounds, as with thankful lips I kiss the ground!
But do I know the 'Wind of Change' my destiny has found?
