The Woman In Dark Glasses Poem by Francis Duggan

The Woman In Dark Glasses

The woman in dark glasses her eyes I can't see
I wonder why she keeps on staring at me
Though she does not smile me does she recognize?
The mirrors to her soul from me she disguise
Why does she stare at me if me she does not know?
I smile at and greet her but she does not say hello
I thought to myself how conceited you are
Wearing your dark glasses sitting in your big car
She did not smile or even bid me good day
She reversed out of the car park slowly driving away
Up towards the Freeway at the top of the street
Without her dark glasses her I may not know if again her I meet
With dark shades covering her eyes how was I to know
Whether they were grey or brown or as blue as a sloe.
