The Woodpecker (2) Poem by Bijay Kant Dubey

The Woodpecker (2)

While in the garden
Behind the house,
I saw the woodpecker
Flying to the tree
By the pond.

The black-rumped flameback
Woodpecker,
Golden and black
But the head spotted red
With the long bill.

Freckled and speckled
Appeared it to be
Bizarre and grotesque,
The head spotted red
While the body golden and blackly.
