The Word Love Poem by Raymond Farrell

The Word Love

The way this word
is used
you'd think words
were being rationed
or being honest and direct
as to meaning
was strictly forbidden
it reminds me of the word "fine"
another cover all
or coverup word
but love
once carried the connotation
of purity, devotion, and faithfulness
a word of exalted sentiment
regrettably
it is no longer
always the case
since the word
has been commandeered
by the purveyors of smut
and phony sentimental mush.

I love this poem. : -) I agree, Raymond. The English language has evolved to a point where... well, it needs to evolve further.
