The World I Know Poem by Gina Van Wolf

The World I Know

All those pretty horses drifting towards the sun
a sun that's dripping in golden happiness
with a sister moon swallowed in silver pain
but that's just the world I know.

All those pretty children dancing in the rain
a rain that screams and cries in sorrow
with a sister snow that swims in innocence
oh, that's the world we know.

All those empty houses lining my old street
a street that could tell stories of yesterday
with a sister highway still bursting with life
I guess that's just the world I know.

All those black and white photographs my mother kept
photographs with cracks and unforced smiles
now has a daughter digital camera and
a son named worthless reality TV
but I guess that's just the world I know.
