The Yellow Eye Poem by Juan Olivarez

The Yellow Eye

Theres a yellow eye,
Looking up at me from a white face.
No blinking,
No eyelashes, no eyebrows.
Little white specks,
And little black specks,
Float,
In the eye.
Like Polyphemus's orb,
It glares at me.
I must do battle,
With the yellow eye.
So I pull out my weapons,
And I destroy it.
Satisfied,
And with a higher,
Cholesterol level,
I kiss my wife,
And head off,
For work.
