The Yiddishkeit Empresario Poem by Bryan Taplits

The Yiddishkeit Empresario

He misplaced the listed Torah Yarzheits
And every aliyah to be called,
He stumbled through the service too
Either forgetting or not recalled.
No hints nor sighs from those stolid legions,
The English readers who would read aloud this day,
They remained in muffled solitude-
Uncertain they'd ever get their say.
But though he didn't attain his aims
The Yasher ko'akhs splurged were large,
So with chest flexed out-
as though awaiting to shout,
He regally beamed-
For he knew who was in charge.
