Their Hands Held Firm Poem by Half Past

Their Hands Held Firm

many years they walked hand in hand

they stood strong side by side

leaning on one another when times were hard

their hands were soft and smooth when they started their journey

their bodies were upright and solid

they walked with vigor and energy through life

always their hands were bonded

years would pass and hardships would beckon

one would lift as the other slowly fell

one would pull as the other lagged behind

one would caress when the other felt hurt

always their hands would call out to each other

through the struggles of life

their hands yearned for the touch of the others

they brought strength when their was weakness

each hand called the other hand home

their hands grew together in age

weather spots and callouses matching their grasp

they stooped and wavered as they walked

never loosing grip

never letting the other go

clasped in the comfort of the others arthritic joints

pulses felt through rough skin

they journeyed on swinging their arms

their pace slowed with time

but always they walked forward

together

their hands held firm
