Then Came The Republicans Poem by Randy McClave

Then Came The Republicans

First came the racists
They were all applauded,
Then came the bigots
To them the people cheered and nodded.
Then came the bullies
They attacked the needy and the poor,
Then came the wealthy
Who demanded and then took more.
Then came the fake religious
Who said that they were the followers of Christ,
Then came the cowards
They all forgot who had sacrificed.
Then came the greedy and the gluttonous
Unto which many are their pawn,
Then lastly came the Republicans
To which shamefully, I will say that I am one.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I am a Republican (my family became republican to vote for Lincoln)and I do not believe for what most of my party stands and fights for today.
It makes me shameful to see my party, the party of Lincoln, accept trump and McConnell etc.
