Then The Sun Began To Rise Poem by Nathan Barkley

Then The Sun Began To Rise

Another Friday night
Under those familiar stars
They all are so bright
I get out of the car
Everyone is jumping, drinking, and singing

I can't believe I am here once again
Walking up to the door
Kids are past out on the floor
I take a deep breath before I go in.
Everyone wildly indulging themselves with sin.

Looking for my friends
While girls are seducing men
While the guys stop respecting them as women.
My friends in the living room eating and drinking.
I ask myself why do I hang out with them?
All of them smile, and grabbed me to be one of them.

Yet on the corner of my eye
I thought I saw angel
Was I going to die?
She glanced at me
She had rosy cheeks
With tears in her eyes she left the party
I was stunned she was someone I had to meet.

I went outside
Behind those tears what was there to hide?
Trying to figure out a plan
What should I say for you to want to hold my hand?
There you was laying your head on a car
I didn't have to walk far
To see the sadness

Your black hair so long
Which covered your arms
Glisten under the moon and the stars.
'Are you ok? ' I said
She looked at me with millions of tears to shed.
Looking into my soul
I was stunned no where to go
With those brown eyes
You stop crying
and let out a sigh
'Your not like those guys'
You whispered
and ran into my arms and cried.

'What happened? whats your name? ' I said
and she said
'I am a girl who got her heart broken way to many times,
Here I thought me and him was just fine
He is in there making out
and here I am crying my eyes out
Life is just not fair sometimes'
and I said
'Don't cry,
honestly, don't tell anyone but your about to make me cry
Everything is going to be alright
Even sadness and pain eventually die
Don't worry I would be there for you every time'

She let go of me and looked me in the eye
With no tears in her eyes
She whispered to me her name
I was left in a daze.
She said thank you.
Then ran to her car
Leaving me with a sacred scar
Within my memories.
She rode by
then threw a piece of paper
With her number
Then the sun began to rise.
