There Are Certain Words

There are certain words that leave their mark
And their power cannot be diminished
Three of the most wonderful of such
Are those words.. "It is finished! "
All the culmination of sin
That rendered us such loss
Was dealt with there
once and for all
There at Calvary's Cross

Love laid out in human flesh
The love of God towards me
Who by the shedding of His own
blood
Secured my liberty
And on display there lifted up
Became that glorious name
Through which all men on planet earth
Can be born again

(this dictated a more powerful ending to this poem)

There is life in the person of the Son
"It is finished"... The way is was begun
For God was satisfied
with that sacrifice that day
For three days later Christ rose from the grave
Hear those words... hear them loud and plain
Sin will never ever, conquer us again
And death's power to keep us down... utterly diminished
Praise God for those three words... Praise God "It is finished! "
