There is a golden smile
on the lips of those who live
while dying—
as though they are grooms,
enclosed in diamond light,
displayed for the houris
waiting in Jannah.
They gather divine light,
tune their souls
to celestial music,
their departure untinged by bitterness.
Much like seeds buried in soil,
they bloom anew in spring,
their essence untouched by the honey
of earthly temptations.
No sweetness clings to their fingers,
no regrets stain their souls.
They cleanse away ego, lust—
that sweet poison—
discarding all that distracts
from the pure light,
the sound of the divine self,
their true fitrah.
And yes,
when the dead die,
they think of life's pastries—
but only as a memory,
never a craving.
