There Is A Simple Principle Poem by Francis Duggan

There Is A Simple Principle

There is a simple principle by which we ought to live
For to learn how to receive we must learn how to give
And in our dealings with others we must always be fair
Though many shady characters in the bigger World out there
Some people in their own small ways to say the least seem small
They believe on a fair go for some but not on a fair go for all
Many of us are found wanting though we do try our best
For to live as good people when we are put to the test
And i too am found wanting i do not have what it does take
For to make the World better to live in a small difference i do not make
Yet to make the World better to live in one must do the best one can
And that applies to everyone every woman and man
And though it seems a principle the higher self one must embrace
We must live as better people to make the World a better place.
