There Is An Arrogance Poem by Raymond Farrell

There Is An Arrogance

There is an arrogance
About some people
Who are as certain
As they can be
But are unable to be
Absolutely certain
When they come as close
To absolute certainty
As they can
They then induce
From their findings
That they are
Absolutely certain
As to the results
But all too frequently
Like Bertrand Russell's
Inductivist turkey
Having stuck their necks out
And gobbled as loud as they could
About their results
The axe of truth
Unexpectedly comes down
And beheads them.
