There is no me in life
no me in beauty
no me in one, no me in you
one less me in the world
and nothing substantial changes
a little more oxygen, perhaps
fewer blinks fewer tears
fewer catacombs and memories
lurking in a crumbling mind.
Let go and let God, they say
but God has heard better songs
found weaker souls that stray
no me around the corner, nowhere
in sight, no me to be found
at the end of the great beyond
Time is blind and irrelevant
and some will find me in time
though very few do.
No me in the consciousness of trees
banging their branches against
a cesspool of wind and rain
only smiles and smiles of skies on parade
Ahh, there is nothing better
than a little beauty left blemished
and broken of her vanity
Ahh, so much more to my reality
desperate, resonant, infinite
than meets a stranger's beautiful eye
left castrated of its vision, buried
in a cleavage of hills and clouds.
Sometimes my spirit plays like a gigolo
in a jungle of words, just to hear
its own piano cry and then die
bereft of anything lucid or lovely
as lady luck would have it
that way and only that way
Yes, time and time again, it is time
for a new set of kneecaps, new pair of rims
like a nude and rude awakening
time to burn myself in, dig myself thin
till I find my way out.
