There Is Nothing New Under The Sun Poem by Jas Garcia

There Is Nothing New Under The Sun

can't say
i saw it coming
once again
thought things had changed
but here i stand
looking down
at the stars underneath my feet
wishing upon them
that i had not been so naive
looking every which way
and distinctly,
it all looks the same.
i'm exactly where i started.
only miles away
how i looked forward to this part of the year
made some gains,
that are now losses
cut my losses
but they find their way back to me
i'm exactly where i used to be
the greatest irony:
believing i had started a new journey
i set out to complete
the disastrous want of making myself free
a period of enlightenment,
i anticipated
now i find myself drowning with disappointment
as i arrive at my current destination
unlocking the same secrets i myself hid
the same, sad, disapproving glances
by the same, sad people.
realizing we are all as lost as the next person,
the false sense of direction
forever leading you back to prison
