There Ought To Be Some Place In Poetry For Rhyme

Rating: 5.0

They do write in English but never in rhyme
Those referred to by the literary critics as the poets of our time
Of language they seem to have a great command
Though their poems I do struggle for to understand.

But what matter their poetry does seem to please
The literary critics with uni degrees
But the music in their poems I struggle to see
With we all cannot be clever one has to agree.

Would Burns be anonymous if he were living today
For in his poems the music a huge part does play
But forgive me my lack of intelligence if I seem to miss
The beauty in their poetry ignorance can be bliss.

Though music and modern verse does not get along
In good rhyme there is music the source of a song
And though some do dismiss it as not of our time
There ought to be some place in poetry for rhyme.
